Wow, those videos were so dope, Common!! It’s truly a time for change. I’m glad you had the chance to experience the inauguration festivities, it looks like you had a wonderful time in DC. Can’t wait to see you in LA with Ludacris on the 21st!!

Yooo, I was down there too…I live 30 minutes away. I couldn’t have missed it.
I was 10 blocks away from the swear in, couldn’t see jack, lol…but I’m still glad I went. Just being around all those people celebrating this sign of PROGRESS (I hate caps, but I had to put it in caps) was amazing…
People always say “now black kids have a role model who’s not a rapper/athlete” which is true…But what’s a more astounding thought is that Barack had no such role model. He had no precedence…I can only imagine the strength of character and belief in self that it took for him to take such a journey.
It’s a blessing, yo…

It’s so refreshing to see you as a celebrity being so hyped and in great spirits. Goes to show, no matter who you are we were all on the same level of highness these last few days.
The video really captures your spirit

Hi Common and fellow bloggers,
I had the privilege of attending the Inauguration with my fellow classmates; it was truly an inspirational and honorable moment. Many of my family members grew up during the Jim Crow era and it was a blessing to have me attend this historic event in their absence. As I listened to his speech, I was amazed at how his words moved people from different backgrounds; they were cheering and crying, while hanging on to his every word.
It was cold and brisk outside, yet a beautiful moment in history that would warm our hearts and leave us with a story for the future generation. The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart. ~ Maya Angelou

Wow…you’re so humble a gracious with your fans King!!! I’ve see many celebrities throught out the years living in Los Angeles. I even know a few and I’ve never seen anyone embrace thier fans like you. When my family or friends visit me from Chicago, I discourage them to ask for autographs and take pictures with Famous/ infamous (reality stars)people . You just prove me wrong…that there’s good people like you in the entertainment world!
Blessings,

it is a beautiful moment when you have a black man come from the bottom of the berral to the top like a pharoah. now i can say myself us as black men need to stop making excuses for why we cant succeed (yes we can). we need to know that everyone cant to the same thing we need to find our part and play it and be the best at it. when a black man becomes president of the usa no one should talk about why they cant make it anymore. all it takes is self discipline and hard work. I’ll holla

Hey Common! The energy was SICK out there wasn’t it?! I loved it and still floating on Obama Inauguration High. I saw you at the Park at 14th Friday in DC – thanks for being so cool. Its a new day!
By Bryana on Jan 25, 2009
Dude… are you serious Common? I was at the BET taping on Monday right up on the end platform of the stage but you were literally walking around and taking DC cabs in my neighborhood and I didn’t see you because I was in the house cleaning watching the festivities…it was REALLY REALLY COLD!
You put on a great show and I asked Terrence and Muhsinah to tell you I said hello. Now you tell me…did they tell you??
Love the blog videos!

‘I have a dream’ came to life through one man, he has brought and will bring movement, purpose, hope, light, love, trust, solidity, change, thought, emotion, heart, understanding…Fate has given us wisdom, and wisdom is talking and will carry on talking through many years to come.
The inauguration day was somethin special to all of us, I wish I could have been there, history never to be forgotten, it made me smile and cry and sit in honor and amazement.
His speeches are powerful and electric and poetic and I’m so grateful, as many others are that Barack Obama is now president, splenda!
‘and why a man whoes father less than 60 years ago might not have been served in a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath’…..
By Chanel on Jan 26, 2009
