This past weekend we had the second annual Common and Friends concert as a fundraiser for the Common Ground Foundation. It turned out to be an incredible and monumental night. Legendary artists performed and the crowd was phenomenal. For me, getting to perform New York State of Mind with Nas and spit his verse was a highlight for me. Getting to rock with Mos, Kanye and Talib again felt like I had just reunited with my brothers. To think that De La Soul, Queen Latifah, Ludacris, Heavy D, the roots and all of the other previously mentioned artists were all apart of this good cause and expressed their talents freely, just really blew me away. It truly was a classic night in Hip Hop and music in general.
Oh yeah – And one more thing…. It’s funny how people try to blame Kanye for things. I just heard some news that was untrue about Kanye at my benefit concert. For those who are concerned, to all who want to know, Kanye was fed well and had a blast at the show. He contributed to the cause with his heart and soul and I am very grateful. That’s my brotha and nothing but good things happened for us that night. Keep checking back…I’ll be posting pics up later tonight. Peace.

Have nothin against kanye as a performer for he is really talented. But what he did at the VMA was really wrong.

i live in new york city and could have wished for nothing more than just to be at that concert… i was considering flying out there just to see it. i realized it would be too costly and inconvenient. it is one of the greatest regrets of my life. you guys are my favorite artists of all time. all i can wish now is for you all to come to madison square garden!!!!

Anaersome night. To finally have the opportunity to see Mos Def (saw him perform a few weeks prior), Talib Kweli, Common, and Kanye West truly grateful. Love the Roots, but wished they’d done more, like The Show.
Thanks C

I agree w/ Caitlin. Kanye’s music is cool and all, but you definitely gotta question his character…what he did wasn’t very respectable.

You guys were AMAZING! Best concert I’ve been to….ever….
It was the most I’ve ever spent on one show, and it was worth every penny.
You were right when you said that we have to look at ourselves before we throw stones….
I’ve always loved Kanye for being real… and while his timing may not have been so good…he always speaks the truth, and I can’t help but appreciate that.
I’m glad he came; You’ve got quite a crazy list of friends!
Can’t wait till you come back into town again.

That was an amazing show as always. I wish you had done couple more of your own songs. I’m glad Kanye came out and the speech you gave before you brought him out was very touching and beautiful. That is why I love your music and became one of your biggest supporters. Have a blessed weekend.
